प्रतापगढ़ राजस्थान का 33 वां जिला है. प्रतापगढ़ पहले चित्तौडगढ़ जिले के अंतर्गत आया करता था. राजस्थान की पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री वसुंधरा राजे सिंधिया ने प्रतापगढ़ को 8 मार्च 2007 के बजट सत्र में राजस्थान का 33 वां जिला घोषित कर दिया. प्रतापगढ़ के पास पहले से ही कुछ जिला कार्यालय तथा अपना वाहन कोड था. प्रतापगढ़ उदयपुर संभाग के अंतर्गत आता है.

Pratapgarh is newest constituted district in Rajasthan state. It came into existance on 26^thJanurary, 2008 as 33^rddistrict of Rajasthan. It was carved out from Chittorgarh, Banswara & Udaipur districts. 

It is situated in the junction of the Aravali mountain ranges and the Malwa Plateau; hence the characteristics of both prominently feature in the area.Pratapgarh is located at 24.03° North & 74.78° East. It has an average elevation of 491 meters (1610 feet). Well known for pure gold and glass-inlay handmade unique jewelry called "Thewa".

Shilpgram Festival 

Shilpgram, a crafts village 3km west of Fateh Sagar, has displays of traditional houses from Rajasthan, Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra. There are also demonstrations by musicians, dancers, or artisans from these states. The 10 day festival is a treat for the visitor to an array of exquisite art and craft. Shilpgram hosts the festival.

Mewar Festival -

The onset of spring brings the Mewar festival. During the festival, the tradition and culture of Rajasthan dominates every other thing in one's mind. The Mewar Festival is celebrated to welcome the advent of spring. It coincides with the festival of Gangaur in Udaipur and has a unique charm about it. The festival of Gangaur is very significant for women of Rajasthan. It is a time for them to dress up in their best clothes and participate in the festival. The Mewar Festival in March - April
                        They gather to dress the images of Isar and Gangaur and then carry them in a ceremonial procession through different parts of the city. The procession winds its way to the Gangaur Ghat at Lake Pichola. Here, the images are transferred to special boats amidst much singing and festivity.
                        Once the religious part of the festival is over, it is time for cultural events where Rajasthani culture is portrayed through songs, dances and other programs. The festival culminates with an impressive fireworks display. Like other fairs and festivals celebrated throughout the state, there is a lot of activity, which keeps the participants in a joyful frame of mind, eager to enjoy every moment.   
 

Gangaur Festival -

Gangaur festival which comes in March - April is popular among women who pray to the goddess Parvati. A procession of caparisoned horses and elephants accompanying the image of Lord Shiva is the major attraction. During this festival women carry the idols of goddess Parvati also called Gauri  in form of a procession to Gangaur Ghat which is one side of Pichola lake.

It is situated near Bada Kuwa on Najar Bagh road in Tonk City. Inside the Kothi, the walls are golden polish. It is also kwown as ‘Shishmahal’. One can see the Diamonds and glasses, paintings, flowers, ‘PACHHIKARI & MEENAKARI’ works on the walls. Govt. has published it in the Gazzette for making it a Historical Place. Rennovation work is going on for preserving this monument.

Sirohi

Sirohi District is located in the south western part of Rajasthan. Covering an area of about 5139 sq km, Sirohi is considered as the third smallest district in Rajasthan. Pali District lies towards the north-east of Sirohi District, while Udaipur lies to the east. From the western side, Sirohi is surrounded by Jalore and from the south by the Banaskantha District of Gujarat.

The district is divided into five tehsils, namely Sirohi, Reodar, Pindwara, Sheoganj and Mt. Abu. These tehsils are further divided into three sub-tehsils, namely Mandar, Bhavari and Kalandri. The headquarters of this district are based at Sirohi city, which was formerly the capital of the princely state of Sirohi.

Sirohi District was founded by the son of Rao Sobhaji, Sehastramal, on the western slope of Siranwa hills. Additionally, he laid the foundation of the Sirohi Fort on the second day of Vaisakh in 1425. Post India's Independence, the state administration of Sirohi State was taken from the minor ruler of Sirohi State, by the Bombay Government. The state was under the administration of the Bombay Government from 5th January, 1949 to 25th January, 1950.

In 1950, the district of Sirohi was merged into the state of Rajasthan. This destination was popular as Dev Nagari, because of the number of temples and shrines dotted across the region. The population of the district is 8,51,107, which mainly comprises of tribal people of Bhils and Grasiya.

Marat Nachna, Sarkali and Gavri dance form an integral part of the culture in this region. Revadi Fair and Dhajeri Gyaras fair are the main events celebrated by the Sirohi people. The region is also famous for Sirohi paintings, which are primarily a sub-school of Marwar.

The main attraction of the district is Mount Abu, which is the only hill station in Rajasthan. Sirohi is home to one of the oldest marble temples of Rajasthan, Mirpur temple. Another main attraction of the district is the Sirohi Fort, which is situated on the eastern slopes of the Siranwa Hills. Markundeshwar Mahadeo Mandir, Abu Nakki Lake and Sirohi Tirth Dham are other major attractions of the region.

Sirohi District is located about 110 km from Udaipur city, which has the nearest airport, Maharana Pratap Airport. There are 9 railway stations in Sirohi. Sirohi Road Railway Station is the main railway station of the district, which connects it to cities like Chennai, Ranakpur, Ajmer, Haridwar and Mumbai.

Sirohi Bus Station, which is in proximity to National Highway 14, is the main bus terminal in the district. Regular buses from Udaipur, Ajmer, Bundi and Jaipur serve this bus terminal. The best time to visit Sirohi is from June to October.

Sikar is a Historical City and at present district head quarter. Sikar district presents a good many facts for the tourists. Sikar is as much part of Shekhawati as Jhunjhunu. It was the biggest Thikana (Estate) of the Jaipur State. It lie on the highway 11 in the midway on route Bikaner to Agra . It is 116 Km away from the Jaipur, 320Km from Jodhpur 240 Km from Bikaner and 301 Km. from Delhi. Sikar was the capital town of the Tikana Sikar. 

It is escorted all around by the highwalls comprising of seven gates. The primitive name of Sikar was ‘Beer Bhan Ka Bass’. In order of mitigate the enmity on account of the murder of Daulat Singh’s father Jaswant Singh , Bahadur Singh the raja of Khandela gifted the village to Daulat Singh . He laid down the foundation stone of the fort on the raised ground of this village. Lateron his son Shiv Singh who was very strong ,clever, courageous and bold made a magnificent fort on it. Shiv Singh was the most prominent Rao Raja of Sikar. He developed the village into a beautiful town. It is surrounded by a strong boundary wall . He was a religious man

History 

About 180 kms. to north-east of Jaipur, along the rolling hills of Vindhyas and Aravali ranges lies the town of Sawai Madhopur. The town founded in 1765 AD was named after its founder Sawai Madho Singh-I of Jaipur.Today Sawai Madhopur is known for Ranthambhor, a Wildlife reserve and a place of historical importance.

In Rajasthan, the Chauhan kingdoms of sapadalaksa and Nodal dis-appeared, Govinda the grandson of Prithviraj Chauhan established himself at Ranthambhore and ruled as feudatory of the Sultan of Delhi. Following disturbances after the death of Iltutmish, Vagbhatta besieged the fort of Ranthambhor. He then ruled from here for 12 Years waging continuous battles against the Sultanate. Rao Hamir was yet another figure who carved a niche for himself. In the annals, it is only now and then do we come across men of such heroism.

                                 Rana Kumbha captured the Ranthambhor Fort the middle of the 15th century. After the death of Aurangzeb, the fort was taken over by the rulers of Jaipur.
